Thanks for reporting this.
The paper you shared does not have the required metadata available for the plugin to serve it. That said, the plugin should display "PDF Not Found" instead of staying in the spinning state. This issue is not in the engineering team's backlog.
I tested it on other open-access articles by the same publisher and the plugin worked when the required metadata was available: https://www.jimmunol.org/content/early/2021/02/16/jimmunol.2000353
