Option to download PDF directly to computer

The main frustration with all these different sites is that I just want to click a button and for the PDF to open in my own PDF viewer on my computer. I don't want to use your viewer. I want to use my own PDF viewer.
It would be good if you had a setting where a user could choose the default behaviour to be download PDF instead of the current behaviour of opening in your browser based viewer.
