Does Kopernio save my browsing information?

I understand Kopernio's need to access my browsing information, but I am concerned about it doing more with it than necessary. What information is transmitted back to Kopernio when using the plugin and is it stored?

Dear Michael,

We have published our Data Principles which explain what data Kopernio collects and why.

https://kopernio.com/data-principles

In summary, on non-academic platforms (i.e. those that do not belong to a whitelist of known academic platforms or those containing specific bibliographic metadata such as DOIs) Kopernio is idle. No information is captured or passed to our servers.

When you are on an academic platform and try access full-text with Kopernio, a copy of the PDF is stored in your personal Kopernio Locker along with metadata (when did you access the PDF, from which website, any errors encountered, etc.). Your Kopernio Locker is very much like a Dropbox folder for your PDFs which you can delete at any time.

If you rely on credentials to access journal articles, these are never transmitted to our servers. Your credentials are securely stored in your browser with full encryption.

All the best,

Ben
